The paper is magazine thin! While I like that it has the same layout and feels the same as the magazine, I do wish they had used a more durable paper. I put my cookbooks through a lot and I worry this will get soaked or rip. I have spilt quite a bit of extracts and butter on various recipes.I really like the desserts and baked goods section!
Lots of photographs and step-by-step instructions which gets high marks.
There is a wide range of recipes and most of the classic favourites.
Oh, and there is

Oh, and there is a whole section on preserving, spices, cooking techniques.
It is a great all around cookbook, especially for beginning-intermediate home cooks.

This is a great cookbook. I love the pictures and the recipes are so easy to read and follow. There is lots of basic information throughout such as how to cut different types of vegetables, measuring equivalents, how to cook different kinds of meat, and pictures of varieties of grains, legumes, etc. I have already made a few recipes in this cookbook. The feather rolls turned out great and are very light just as the name suggests. There aren't a lot of new recipes I want to try, but definitely go This is a great cookbook. The book is great, though l find the coating on the outside of the book unpleasant, but that's just a personal observation. Great pictures, lots of info and good recipes. The book came with a label saying a magazine subscription for Better Homes and Gardens was included with the purchase of the book. I filled out and sent in the card enclosed, but so far no magazine has arrived...disappointed..but book is really nicely set up and worth the money. I got this beautiful edition for Christmas and I am super excited to try these recipes out. Very excited that this is the first edition without a three ring binding, although I liked how I could add my own recipes to the back with the ring binding.
Worth the purchase, a household staple

Most recipes are your traditional bland, unhealthy, too much meat and white processed flour type stuff. I keep it because there are times that I need a recipe for certain audiences that require bland food and this has always come through for me. This is not the best beginners cookbook, there are not allot of step by step pictures that beginners need. This 75th anniversary edition includes a bunch of old school recipes that are interesting but I would never make unless I want to kill someone with Most recipes are your traditional bland, unhealthy, too much meat and white processed flour type stuff. They don't include nutritional information for them because we probably don't want to know.Sits on the shelf and only used for company.

it was amazing Recommends it for: home cooks of all levels
This is one of my first cookbooks, and still one of my favorites. All the basics are here, from boiling an egg to fancy sauces. BH&G constantly updates their New Cook Book, and have done so for decades, without sacrificing clarity and easy-to-follow directions for any level of home cook.

I have an earlier edition. This book is indespensable due to the pie chart. Practically every sort of fruit pie that I have thought to make is represented and it has never steered me awry.

This is my go-to book for basic cooking info. (Well, that or calling my mom). Due to my allergies, there isn't much that I can actually eat in this book, but the basic info is a necessity.
